Episode #109: Hire and Retain Great Staff - Guest Raleigh Bame

Hiring the right people is critical for school culture. Think about it, the team you hire is the team you will come together with everyday, the team you’ll be in the trenches with, and the team that becomes like a second family. Join Shyana Frost and Raleigh Bame, Principal, Laurel Park Elementary, as they discuss the importance of hiring and retaining great people to fill your staff. Listen in as they provide strategies and ideas that can be applied to your hiring process to put people first and ensure a good fit both for the school and for the person.

A little about Raleigh:

Raleigh Bame completed her undergraduate degree at North Carolina State University in Middle Grades Education (English and Social Studies).  After teaching for seven years, and completing her Master’s degree at NCSU along the way, she moved into the role of assistant principal at Green Hope and Sanderson High Schools.  Her time in high school was extremely rewarding, yet she felt something was missing.  After having two children of her own, she wanted to experience education through the eyes of younger children.  She transitioned to Mills Park Elementary as an Assistant Principal.  She joined the staff at Laurel Park Elementary School in the spring of 2016, as the third principal to serve in the role, after serving nine years as an assistant principal.  She is very proud to be a part of such a loving and supportive school.

When Raleigh is not at school, she enjoys spending time with her family.  She and her husband, Rodney have two wonderful children, Barron (14) and Bennett (11) and a sweet dog, Bailey. Both of her children are products of LPES. As a staff member and parent, she works to utilize both roles to better serve the Laurel Park community.  She looks forward to working with the students, staff, and parent community for years to come!
