A little about Maria:

I’m originally a small-town girl from the tiny and widely unknown town of Pekin, IN; I grew up with a large, close extended family, and relationships have always been the biggest part of my life. I’ve been in central Indiana since attending Franklin College here from 1998-2002. First and foremost, I am a mom of 5; my kids are my number one priority, hands down.

I have carried my passion for relationships, along with my drive for improving rapport between teachers, students, and others within school communities, into my career in education; I’ve served as a HS English Teacher, a High School Assistant Principal and Principal at two districts, a Middle School Principal, and an Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment. This year, I have stepped out to launch my own business, a small Education Consultancy called Future Behavior, and I am partnering with Greg Perry, of Future Behaviour in the UK to provide schools with training and support in the areas of student behavior and school relationships. The only point of contention between Greg and I is the best way to spell “behavior”!
